Leanda Xavian is a letterer and illustrator based in Surrey, UK. Following many years working as a graphic designer with prestigious clients both in London and Athens, Leanda dropped a full-time career to concentrate on raising a family. In 2010 she set up her first studio One Little Bird, designing typographic prints for the modern home. Many of her prints featured fonts that had a hand-drawn feel which inspired her to investigate learning copperplate and pointed pen calligraphy. After months of intense study, The Fine Letter Co. was born in the summer of 2015.
Leanda has worked on a variety of projects spanning weddings, promotional events and branding, Her clients include The International Yacht Register, Mappin & Webb, Ginger Ray, Tatler, Bombay Gin, Vogue, Wonderglass, Cheerios and Ferrero Rocher.
Leanda teaches modern calligraphy at Surrey Art School and is a contributor to Calligrafile, the world’s largest online resource for calligraphers and hand-letterers. She is constantly updating her skillset and has studied with professional calligraphers and master penmen.
